Maria, you did a wonderful job putting everything together! Loved reading the old articles, and newspaper clippings about the guild.
I’ve been a member since 2003,I love rughooking,the fellowship,the stress it releases as I pull each loop.the wool,admiring everyone else’s work,it’s a great fibre art!
Loved the rugs displayed, beautiful! Wherever rughooking ends up with Covid-19,whether we end up meeting in a hockey arena,Zoom, outside Centennial Park outside, let’s continue to pass on this beautiful craft on to further generations.
God Bless.

It is a joy to celebrate the Beaconsfield Hooking Crafters Guild on its 45th anniversary. I have been a member for 10 years, attracted first by the opportunity of Saturday hook-ins in the lovely Centennial Hall location.
Friendships are easily formed over a shared enthusiasm for the simplicity and creativity of rug hooking.
We hook meaning, memories, and fun into our rugs and learn and share with each other through our hook-ins, workshops, exhibits, website, and more. It is wonderful to be part of this vibrant community.

Time flies! I’m really amazed that the Beaconsfield Hooking Crafters Guild is celebrating its 45th anniversary!
I remember very vividly the moment when we moved to Montreal in 1973 and I began to offer rug hooking classes in my home, as I used to do in Toronto. My neighbour quickly spread the word and the group became bigger and bigger. Later, encouraged by my students, I proposed a Rug Hooking workshop to the City of Beaconsfield.
In 1975, the City graciously offered us Centennial Hall, and The Guild was born having Ann Grimley as President of The Lakeshore Woolgathers Hooking Craft Guild, followed by Bev Sparey and Kay Cousineau, who is still a member!
Over the years, the Guild changed its name twice, but never its passion and dynamism. 45 years later, it is alive and stronger than ever! This incredible group continues to amaze me year after year with the members’ talents and creativity. The quality, quantity and diversity of the hooked pieces they produce are really stunning. They keep the tradition while also improving Rug Hooking as a fibre art, trying modern techniques and approaches. I am really proud of you all, and very honoured to be your teacher.
I salute all our members, active and the past ones, remember in my heart Jeanne Osler, Ailish O’Keeffe and all the dear members we have lost during these years. I want to thank the Executive Committee and the Web Committee, for the efforts they make to promote our Guild and the art of Rug Hooking. Special thanks to my wonderful husband Derek, alias “Driver”, for his love and support.
